I am running into problems being able to su to root and run kde applications from a gnome session (nonroot user).
Code: | DCOPClient::attachInternal. Attach failed Authentication Rejected, reason :
None of the authentication protocols specified are supported and host-based
authentication failed
DCOPServer self-test failed.
ICE Connection rejected! |
there is no problem running kde applications from my normal user in the same fashing, but root cannot. this is a bit of a problem because kde applications will not compile.
i have my hosts set properly, and my hostname -f returns my hostname as it should.
one side note that my or may not be related, the paths for X11, KDE and QT are not normally set for root. i have to export them, i do export those three, am i possibly missing one>
this occurs whether using GDM or a straight startx, (both gnome desktops then).
i have tried clearing out both .DCOP files in tmp and the homes.
also i nailed my /tmp directory on accident. what would the correct permissions be for that. i did mkdir /tmp and then chmoded it to 777 but i would think there would be a better set to use. |
