Hey
I have seen some of the posts. And briefly read through some of them. You have such a popular forum and using phpbb. And in my eyes phpbb is not realyl made for heavy loads. Now i am not sure if invision is GPL tho. But i know of another community some what like this buit nto really. http://www.unitedadmins.com They use invision and i dont think they would have any problem. You can also keep your older posts, members and some other stuff. I think you should at least give it a try. You can also keep your old forums after the conversion if you didnt like it because the converting script get the info off the current DB with out writing to it and puts it in another DB. I am just giving a suggestion/opion.

Well, recently due to some hard work by some of the site-admins (*puggy cheers*) this forum is actually really fast now, except for a few problems with new code being ironed out at the moment. It's handling the load rather well. Their are various reasons for using phpBB, not all of which are done to performance issues.

Invision is not without its problems, either. Another, much smaller open source project recently switched over from phpBB to Invision and experienced performance problems after the switch.
We're committed to phpBB at the moment.

Hey
Well i think you kind of missing out. Their is so many more features and i think version 1.3 of invision opf fixed 99.9% of the bugs in 1.2. You dont know what your missing

You dont know how much experience i have. Heck i could have more than for all we know. I just said my opion and tried to convince (did a poor job of it) and i left it.

Dude. I wasn't calling you ignorant. I was merely commenting that you can't possibly care if you are missing something you have never had. (i.e. ignorance of a feature you have never used is bliss..) Thus, the phrase "you don't know what you are missing" has a level of rhetoric to it that has always failed to actually convince me of anything. (i.e. Why should i care? If I was ignorant in that I didn't know that I was missing something, does that really justify my going out of my way to obtain it since I'm already happy with what I have or at least didn't know that I as 'missing out' on something?)
I'm sorry if you took my comments the wrong way. That was certainly not the way they were intended. Feedback is the lifeblood of a support forum. I would never insult someone for providing an opinion. _________________ if i never try anything, i never learn anything..

Invision Board isn't GPL'ed. They have a licence which is IMHO best described as 'freeware', altough they actually call it 'unlimited free trial'.
Otherwise, it's a great piece of software. I've been following it's development ever since it's lead programmer left IkonBoard. But phpBB ain't bad, too. Plus, it's GPL |

In all seriousness, we do take personal attacks very seriously here. They are simply *not* welcome. You should always report anyone who does such a thing. _________________ if i never try anything, i never learn anything..
