i'm looking for a prog for linux to open/edit sound. something like cooledit and even to the more proffesional sound design/edit/prossecor soundforge (yay!)

Have you every tried Ardour? I've heard lots of people raving on about it but never got around to trying it. Sadly not available as an ebuild.

If you find anything at that second link, do a Portage tree search to see if it's available in an ebuild first. |

hmm, ardour's more of a multichannel sound mixer. (would be nice if it had midi sequencing, as well.) buti'm looking more for a sound editing/proccessing prog.
gonna try out waveforge -- looks like it's not really being worked on, though.

audacity looks promising. it has support for VST plugins -- yay!

VST for Win and Mac, but not Linux :/ |
