Hey,
I'm a gentoo user and a ROS user. ROS Support for gentoo has been lacking recently, so I've written some patches and am working on getting things improved.
Anywho, I'm just posting this so it'll show up if anyone else searches ROS here. Hit me up if you have any problems / test it / etc. The patches are usually in ROS's trac, but I'll forward you the right ones if needed.

cool, not that i need it but it would be nice if you could open a bug in b.g.o and upload there all your stuff.
Or probably even better in case you have heavily patched ebuilds, would it be possible to have an overlay ?
