|
|
After updating my x86 machine from gentoo-sources-2.6.39-r3 to gentoo-sources-3.0.0 VLC doesn't play DVB-T.
I have tried the same update on a x86_64 System and there VLC works with DVB-T.
After 3times of changing the kernel config from my x86 System VLC does not play DVB-t.
The log file of VLC looks nearly same (if it works or not) and different versions of VLC (1.1.10;1.1.11;9999) doesn't make a difference
each of them working on gentoo-sources-2.6.39-r3 but not on gentoo-sources-3.0.0.
Here are my VLC USE Flags:
[ebuild R ] media-video/vlc-1.1.11 USE="X a52 aac aalib alsa avahi bidi cdda dbus dts dvb dvd ffmpeg flac gcrypt gnome gnutls httpd libnotify live lua matroska mmx mp3 mpeg ncurses nsplugin ogg opengl png qt4 sdl sqlite sse stream svg svga theora truetype udev vlm vorbis win32codecs x264 xcb xml xv zvbi (-altivec) -atmo -cddb -dc1394 -debug -dirac -directfb -fbcon -fluidsynth -fontconfig -ggi -gme -id3tag -ieee1394 -jack -kate -kde -libass -libcaca -libproxy -libtiger -libv4l -libv4l2 -lirc -modplug -mtp -musepack -optimisememory -oss -projectm -pulseaudio -pvr -remoteosd -rtsp -run-as-root -samba -schroedinger -sdl-image -shine -shout -skins -speex -taglib -twolame -upnp -v4l -v4l2 -vaapi -vcdx -wma-fixed -xosd" 0 kB

| Yes looks like a kernel bug. Xine works for DVB-T on x86 with gentoo-sources-3.0.0 |

There's a know issue with dib0700 driver and some patches applied at 3.0.
I'll be merging the fixes from Patrick git tree today. They should solve
the issue. |

Updating to gentoo-sources-3.0.3 (only i386) brought no changes to my vlc issue.
Sometimes it will work(If i change 10 times the channel i could see 1 time the tv programm).
If i boot with gentoo-sources-2.6.39-r3 vlc works perfect with dvb-t.
I have tried different versions of vlc but there was no difference to my problem.
PS: vlc-9999 fails to compile (since 2 or 3 weeks) with 010_all_freetype-font.patch.
If there have something change with dib0700 it make no different in this kernel
version (gentoo-sources-3.0.3) to the kernel before (gentoo-sources-3.0.0/3.0.1)
or the needed patches are not applied.
Anybody else with same problems (watching dvb-t with vlc on i386) ???
or anybody else with helping hints or an advise??? |

Some additional info:
The problem is on the x86 gentoo-sources (i am using the i386er kernel).
No problem on the x86_64 bit gentoo-sources.
I am using the kernel driver for dvb-t not the dvb-hg driver package.
My dvb-t adapter is a Terratec Cinergy DT USB XS.
Relevant loaded modules: dibx000_common, dvb_usb_dib0700, dib7000p, dib7000m, dib8000, dib9000, dib3000mc. |

| Updating the system to gentoo-sources-3.0.7 doesn't change the situation. |

In dmesg i see "dib0700: tx buffer length is larger than 4. Not supported."
and after googling i found that the solution (3Patches) would be in the next kernel. |

i have filled a bug report (Bug 388553) and have tried the patches
The patches solved the problem for vlc i tried it at gentoo-sources-3.1.0 and 3.0.7.
Mplayer2 and xine shows channel 1 till 4 but fails on channels 5 till 9 with gentoo-sources-3.1.0 and 3.0.7 with or without the patches. Furthermore vlc is able to view epg on channel 1-4 and fails to view epg on channels 5 -9. |

Same problem. And the dib0700: tx buffer length is larger than 4. Not supported. message also appears in gentoo-sources-2.6.39-r3, but dvb seems to work OK. _________________ pcmaster |

The 2 patches in the Bug report (388553) also clears the log files from
the error message "dib0700: tx buffer length is larger than 4. Not supported"
but i haven't tried with gentoo-sources-2.6.39-r3 |

The 2 patches are not included in gentoo-sources-3.1.1 so i have to patch it
for watching dvb-t with vlc.
The problems with mplayer mplayer2 and xine
still haven't changed. |

Yeah with gentoo-sources-3.1.2 vlc works with dib0700 & dvb-t perfect (without the patches!)
also the epg information problem is solved.
Only the status of xine mplayer and mplayer2 havent changed they have the same problems with dvb-t. |
