I feel like I'm flooding the forums today.
But I have another problem. When I try to install grub I type:
grub>root (hd3,0)
I get an error 21 telling me the device doesn't exist. My boot partiton is on /dev/hdd1.
If I try to run
grub>setup (hd3)
I get an error 12 telling me invalid device.
I edited /etc/fstab. Do I need to pass a refresh command to the system?
I could always try LILO but LILO and my hardware don't seem to get along I always get hangups at "LI"
I disabled raid in my kernel so I'm pretty sure linux should read the harddrive as /dev/hdd. If I fdisk /dev/hdd I can see the partition tables of the disk.
Puzzling. |

How many hard disks do you have? Grub does not care about cd/dvd/etc drives. hdd will only be hd3 if hda, hdb and hdc are all hard disks. Your first hard disk, no matter where it is attached to, will allways be hd0. _________________ | www.gentoo.org | www.tldp.org | www.google.com | |
