Lustmored
adding to CFLAGS in /etc/make.conf may help?!
I do not fiddle with boost exception handling within my eclass. I wonder ... _________________ hear hear |

I've added "-fexceptions" to CFLAGS, recompiled boost. And than rocs.
Still same error |

Checked out, re-downloaded patchset, re-build. Still exactly same error
Looks like the patch isn't applied correctly?
But this looks correct:
Code: | >>> Starting src_prepare
* Applying various patches (bugfixes/updates) ...
* 00_skip-headers.diff ... [ ok ]
* 01_remove-toolset.diff ... [ ok ]
* boost-exceptions-5731.diff ... [ ok ]
* boost-mpi-python31.diff ... [ ok ]
* boost-python-install-python3.diff ... [ ok ]
* Done with patching |
I am confused |

you could check the boost headers installed.
are there any other old boost headers around?
throw is not called anymore with that patch. so it cannot fail for that now. _________________ hear hear |

Got it!
Patch has to be applied to boost-headers, not boost. |

Interesting factoid (may not be a specific problem to this ebuild, but in the portage base). The way makeopts are cleaned out doesn't deal well with 'odd' MAKEOPTS
I use MAKEOPTS="-s -j -l4" which causes emerging boost to shart. This is the only package I've found that fails SPECIFICALLY due to these flags, before even trying to compile. |

It doesn't even begin to build. It bombs out early:

After looking at your regex, the problem is it not matching my makeopts due to -j[nothing]. changin ([0-9]+) to ([0-9]*) would likely fix that, but you'd also need to filter out the -l4 somehow. |

I'm getting a build conflict between eselect-boost and the split boost builds available through your overlay. It seems to also be that the standard version of boost has overtaken your version... I thought maybe someone else would have run into this, but I haven't been able to find any reference in the forums or searching elsewhere.
Thank you,
James

cctsurf
you may check what requires eselect-boost or boost-1.46.
and fix its *DEPEND parameters; either remove eselect-boost depend or
remove the version from boost depend of that package. _________________ hear hear |

http://code.google.com/p/gekis-playground/source/detail?r=309
Quote: | eclass/alternatives: import from gentoo repo: allow directories to be symlinked
eclass/boost-headers: SLOT; make use of alternatives; *happy user experience*
eclass/boost: INFO: may need to be tweaked for that change: switch alternatives | well, actually my developing userbase.
the dev-libs/boost package may fail now, if it uses system boost headers - I wonder ; i.e. remerging old boost library with newer headers on system.
therefore the INFO above.
feedback?!
edit #1
looks like it does just fine.
btw, r310~r312 involved some cleanups, cosmetics and simplifications; like using base over eutils eclass directly.

damn, I got an objection.
I am not quite satisfied about this: *grml*
Quote: | /usr/include/boost-1.48 | versus Quote: | /usr/lib64/boost-1_48 |
any thoughts about right or wrong; good or bad? which one is better? or just leave it like that?!
I quite do not like dots in paths for compiler... how could that slip my mind... _________________ hear hear |

You have to remerge the dev-libs/boost-headers package!
Sorry for the inconvenience. |
edit #1
and you better remove the /usr/include/boost symlink.
otherwise eclass/alternatives seems to be confused?!
have fun! _________________ hear hear |

I got a stupid question! anyone?
there is this code in boost.eclass (from its portage origin):
Quote: | # we need to add the prefix, and in two cases this exceeds, so prepare
# for the largest possible space allocation
[[ ${CHOST} == *-darwin* ]] && append-ldflags -Wl,-headerpad_max_install_names
# bug 298489
if use ppc || use ppc64 ; then
[[ $(gcc-version) > 4.3 ]] && append-flags -mno-altivec
fi | is that CHOST == darwin and ppc || ppc64 check the same?! _________________ hear hear |
