I'm trying to install the PPC-version of Gentoo on my PowerPC. The strange thing is that since this step (i believe the first step):
Quote:
OldWorld style Macs will need to have a working MacOS partition, and use the Gentoo Installer.sit provided on the ISO.

my monitor doesn't come back after reboot. It's powered on, connecter properly, and the monitor works perfectly on my laptop. It's an AppleVision 17" trinitron, I don't know the exact type.

I try to google for a solution, and the only thing i found was:

Quote:
cmd-opt-A-V: Reset AV monitor and force it to be recognised as such.

That would be apple-alt-A-V then. That didn't help, I tried several times.

Even more strange is that the monitor doesn't display anything anymore on my OS9-running PPC, without any alteration (I have two identical PPC's - but just one monitor).

Is there anyone here who has expirienced this problem, and/or knows a solution to it?

Moved from Installing to Gentoo on PPC since it's a PPC problem rather than a generic installation issue.

It sounds almost like the monitor itself is having some issues :([/quote]

No, I don't think it is a problem with the AppleVision self, since it is working properly if I connect it to another PC or laptop. (I have an adapter-thingie to connect an AppleVision to a regular PC).

Strange thing is that with the monitor connected to one of my PowerPC's, the in-screen menu appears quite dark too. Even with the brightness and contrast-settings set to the lightest possible display.

So it looks to me the PowerPC's don't have enough power to keep the AppleVision working, but then again, it is the original monitor for the PowerPC's (8200/120), and I got it to work a couple of times.
