I am puzzled!
Are you trying to install Gentoo on a Mac?
Shouldn't you be using a livecd and the Gentoo Handbook?
Gerard.

Do you have the latest version of XCode installed? What is the output of `gcc -v`? If you try using CHOST=x86_64-apple-darwin10 do you have more luck?

Thanks for your response;

cc version 4.2.1 (Apple Inc. build 5666) (dot 3)
Xcode Version 3.2.6 (1761)

This error is happening at the initial bootstrap installation;
./bootstrap-prefix.sh $EPREFIX tree
$ ./bootstrap-prefix.sh $EPREFIX/tmp make " This is step error occurred", for more background on bootstrap,

http://www.gentoo.org/proj/en/gentoo-alt/prefix/bootstrap-macos.xml

Appreciate your response...

I would advise you to try setting CHOST=x86_64-apple-darwin10 before running bootstrap-prefix.sh.

Moved from Installing Gentoo to Gentoo on Alternative Architectures as it fits better here.
