Open Source Alternatives to Adobe Flash on Linux

The first I got to know was gnash. Now I heard about lightspark. When looking for information why there are 2 projects and where the differences are I found this interesting article:

http://www.linux.com/learn/tutorials/360557-weekend-project-open-source-alternatives-to-adobe-flash-on-linux

In this thread I would like to discuss and track the usability for our PPC.
Does anyone have experiences with either of these 2?
I have gnash installed, and since there is no alternative anyway I also activated it for Firefox.
I was able to play audio-only content on amazon.com (well partially they also offer some RealPlayer contents which still play fine with the old Helix-Player binary for PPC). The only problem is that the flash-player does not recognize the end of a track and plays all tracks simultaneously resulting in a lot of noise.
I am able to see the youtube-player but I'm not able to start a video.

hey !

i would also like to hear from others what they are using to play flash media. My experience so far :

- gnash - does only play old flash for me, have never been able to play any youtube videos f.ex.
- lightspark - it apparently works but there is no output at all here in youtube f.ex. IIRC lightspark doesnt use altivec yet and therefore the thing is way to slow.
- swfdec - i was able to play youtube with this one some time ago ( it doesnt work right now for me anymore though). It was very slow too when it worked.

some also played with qemu+adobe-flash, but i havent tried yet.
I think the main problem is the hardware too, i think my pb just isnt powerfull enough to render this kind of stuff.

Any other options ?

cheers

i still use firefox-3.6.x+gnash-0.8.9 and it works just fine on my dual G5 with crux ppc 64bit thus, i guess, it'll work fine on gentoo too.

here some ss i found around:

but, instead, on my system the youtube bar is well rendered.

No.

We should be more considered about silverlight. That's a major threat.

Silverlight?!? Maybe you'are talking about Moonlight (mono-project).

Yeah yeah I know, that's why it's a major concern. It's waaay behind Sliverlight versions and MS is keeping the specifications secret; maybe they'll encrypt Silverlight content next to avoid reverse engineering.
