Given the extensive attack surface that Firefox represents, I would think that failure to start Firefox as root would constitute a security feature, not a bug.
Why are you trying to run Firefox as root? |

Basically this error means B-bus abruptly dropped the connection - it'll do this if there a protocol violation (illegal UTF-8, malformed command, etc). In particular: No one except the user may connect to their session bus - not even root. Try clearing DBUS_SESSION_BUS_ADDRESS with
Code: | unset DBUS_SESSION_BUS_ADDRESS |
However as other as said - running Firefox (and especially Flash) as root is about as good idea and sampling the contents of unlabeled medicine bottle to see what each ones does so you can relabel them later.... |

i understand the security part of the X vlc etc.
opera runs fine as root.
for managing my usb drive files i need to login as root
command line operation of moving /copying files to and from usb drives is difficult as they have windows files
at the time if i have to look in the email or something i use a browser.
apart from that the user invoked firefox also shows some errors
Code: | Failed to open VDPAU backend libvdpau_nvidia.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory |
from menu click the firefox icon firefox comes up without fail
as yet no trouble has been found in firefox operations. _________________ reach out a little bit more to catch it (DON'T BELIEVE the advocate part under my user name) |

padoor wrote: | for managing my usb drive files i need to login as root | This is wrong in two senses. First, it is wrong in that there is no need for you to run every single process as root just because you want a root privileged shell to manipulate the USB drive. Second, it is wrong in that you could configure the system not to require root privilege to manipulate the USB drive. |

The "Failed to open VDPAU backend libvdpau_nvidia.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory" is actually from Flash player, not Firefox |
