Simply, I moved my computer from place to place during the first tests, sometimes with external speakers (connected to the headphones), sometimes without.
I did not notice that when it was not working, it was always when using the internal speakers without headphones

I kept the sources of my old kernel (2.6.32-gentoo-r7)... I could try to compile it again to see if detection still works OK on that old kernel. |
I would not care that much about alsaconf, there could be a bit of mismatch in alsa-utils version and the alsa version in the kernel. Given that aplay and amixer show the card all right means it is recognized.
I wonder if your internal speaker are just dead though, do you have dual boot/vm windows to check ? (or, then, the old kernel ?) |

No, the main speakers are working fine under windows, so they are not dead.
I have recompiled my old kernel (2.6.32-gentoo-r7), then all alsa-related ebuilds (keeping exact same versions).
Please note that I have kept exactly the same kernel config as the newer kernel to compile the old one.
On this old kernel, sound is working perfectly on the main speakers.
And if I connect a headphone, the main speakers are muting automatically and sound is working on the headphones.
Moreover, alsaconf is detecting the soudcard properly:
