A world update yielded the following output after what appeared to be an otherwise successful update of perl:

Code:
Warning: something's wrong at /usr/bin/enc2xs line 1017.
/usr/lib64/perl5/5.12.2/Encode
Generating /usr/lib64/perl5/5.12.2/x86_64-linux/Encode/ConfigLocal.pm...
 * Converting C header files to the corresponding Perl format (ignore any error) ...
Can't open machine/ansi.h: No such file or directory
Can't open sys/_types.h: No such file or directory
>>> Regenerating /etc/ld.so.cache...

 * Messages for package dev-lang/perl-5.12.1-r2:

 * Unable to establish /usr/share/man/man1/cpanp-run-perl.1* symlink

 * Messages for package dev-lang/perl-5.12.2-r1:

 * Unable to establish /usr/share/man/man1/cpanp-run-perl.1* symlink
>>> Auto-cleaning packages...

>>> No outdated packages were found on your system.

 * GNU info directory index is up-to-date.

What should I do about the symlink errors?

Thanks for whatever you can tell me ;)

:lol:

In all seriousness, it's a symlink for the man page. I don't see it causing any problem with normal operation of perl

Thanks and agreed ;) But maybe I shouldn't have restricted my question to the symlinks. How about this other bit:

Code:
Warning: something's wrong at /usr/bin/enc2xs line 1017.
/usr/lib64/perl5/5.12.2/Encode
Generating /usr/lib64/perl5/5.12.2/x86_64-linux/Encode/ConfigLocal.pm...

Can't open sys/_types.h: No such file or directory

Code:

 * The following files remain. These were either installed by hand
 * or edited. This script cannot deal with them.

/usr/lib64/perl5/5.12.2/x86_64-linux/Encode/ConfigLocal.pm
/usr/lib64/perl5/5.8.8/x86_64-linux/Encode/ConfigLocal.pm

Guess i can delete the above files.. did not realize i missed a perl-updater. Thanks for pointing this out.
