hi,
i'm tring to understand how enable nanojit_ppc support in Firefox4.
I've found this:
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=624164
but that patch doesn't apply cleanly on firefox-4rc2 sources and i'm still unable to understand how activete nanojit_ppc.
Are there someone capable to understand the actual Firefox4 Vs. PPC scenario ?

As far as I know, the nanoJIT isn't completely ready to be enabled for PPC yet. The work is being done as part of TenFourFox, which is a port of Firefox 4 to OSX 10.4. Keep following that bug for more information. _________________ Gentoo PPC FAQ: http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/gentoo-ppc-faq.xml |

that's right, i read that.
I hope in a quick implementation 'cause, actually, for us on ppc there is no advantage to use FF4. _________________ LinuxPPC user!

Well, I've been using TenFourFox for more than 6 months now, and I can say it's pretty stable on MacOS 10.4.11. methodjit is disabled for now, but tracejit is fully functional. As far as I remember reading in their blog's comments, building TenFourFox with nanojit enabled for PPC Linux would only require to change an #ifdef somewhere in the code, and it should work flawlessly.
Please take a look to the blog and specially to its comments(where there are some questions about linux support, and some answers too): http://tenfourfox.blogspot.com/
Here you can see a graph showing **REAL** statistics: http://www.floodgap.com/software/tenfourfox/
Now the project leader is working on accelerating this stuff with altivec:
- Pixel format conversion
- WebM
- JPEG decoding
and more... |
