I swear to god I had done dd if=/etc/yaboot/yabootsomething of=/dev/sda1, where /dev/sda1 is a Type 41 8.3MB boot partition (fdisk wouldn't let me create anything smaller). Then I dd if=/dev/sda1 and compared it with the file in /etc/yaboot and it said it matches!
I looked up error 20ee000b on the internet - sounds like it's an error that should come from the AIX 6.1 bootloader. What I don't understand is, why is it still there after I dd'ed the yaboot image over? _________________ When you are clever, you realize you are stupid; when you are stupid, you realize you are clever. |

It seems /dev/sda1, which has the yaboot image on it, actually starts on the 2048th sector (of 512 bytes) of the hard drive, not the 0th sector. fdisk on the CRUX PPC CD doesn't let me start the first partition from sector 0. I thought it was a platform thing and then let it be. Could this be the problem? _________________ When you are clever, you realize you are stupid; when you are stupid, you realize you are clever. |

Why don't you perform a full gentoo install via serial terminal ??
Later you can grab cruxppc gxt6500p patch and recompile your own kernel.
Anyway i never encountered your problem installing Gentoo or CRUX PPC on my POWER5 servers. _________________ LinuxPPC user!

Well I went into the SMS Boot Menu and when I selected normal boot from hard drive, funnily enough it worked this time. I'll have to reboot to see if yaboot will load when it's unattended, though. _________________ When you are clever, you realize you are stupid; when you are stupid, you realize you are clever. |
