For this, i am assuming that you mean CD#1 is the 16MB cd, and CD#2 is the larger cd (of which the size escapes me).
They are both exactly the same except in one respect. In the install instructions, where it tells you to mount the cd-rom and extract the stage you wish to begin with, that is for the larger cd #2. if you use the smaller one, you will have to instead download one of the stage tarballs from a website and then extract it.
Basically cd #1 (the small one) is a big boot disc. CD #2 is a big boot disc with install files. If you're new (to linux especially, but also if you're new to the gentoo install procedure) I'd go with the larger cd. _________________ --
