The more the merrier, we also play ETQW and a few other native FPS, our site is a little unused but will sort that out with a revamp soon...
As Naib said - best thing to do is pop over to #gentoo-chat ... |

Hi guys
QuakeLive r0x. But I have a strange problem. r_picmip is set to "10" in my autoexec.cfg. But it is _always_ set to 1. So I do a vid_restart after joining a server. But the REALLY annoying problem ist: after vid_restart I can move my mouse ONLY vertically !?!? I also postet this also on the quakelive forums. But noone seems to have an answer. When I do a /reconnect I can move my mouse normally again.
That some settings are not autoloaded is well known, but my mouse prob is so annoying .... someone got a hint?
Here is my autoexec: http://acidc0re.de/autoexec.cfg
btw, my nick on QL is mephist0666. So European gentoo'ers, add me _________________ Life sux, but graphics are awesome ! |

Is that only if you actually have your config in autoexec? I just have 'exec my.cfg' in autoexec.cfg and the full config in my.config and it saves/loads fine. |

Yes, I know. But then I do /exec autoexec followed by /vid_restart. After /vid_restart sometimes the mouse moves only vertically?!?
Thats what I was talking about. REALLY annoying Only a /reconnect helps

Have you tried resetting your game configuration via the website? (Game Settings -> Reset Settings Defaults (at the bottom)) This helps in some cases.
Reset them then start a game, exec your config, quit and see if it's still not working. |

coolz, I dont remember what I did excalty, but autoexec works now
I think it happened while I played 2 duel matches yesterday. I think I did: /exec autoexec and then vid_restart and then played that duel. During the match another guy joined and I got dropped into spectator mode. He didnt want to leave or go spec. So I looked for another free server. My friend found one and I joined through the friends list icon. I cant remember if it was executed automatically on the second server or if I did /exec autoexec again. Damn it. My short-term memory is bad I hate that. Its driving me nuts if I cant remember something. _________________ Life sux, but graphics are awesome ! |

Man this made my day, find me on the servers: Catastr0phe
and Gentoo Clan? Hmm I got lots of free time, I wouldn't mind pitching in for the fun of it.
Count me in. |

I have a problem with Quake Live and Gentoo. I updated my gentoo yesterday and I have problem with playing QL.
Today, when I want to joing some serwers, I have this strange thing. Every text is writing in "squares". I can't read anyting. I can't see avatars of players, wepons, etc. Only blank squares appear. When I join the game, I see some error, but I can't read it. And I need to quit the game.
Am I in the write topic? |

libpng is the problem, looks like the version QL is build with is incompatible to the current one in gentoo:
| Code: | | emerge "=media-libs/libpng-1.2.43-r3" |
if that does not work try
| Code: | echo ">=media-libs/libpng-1.4.2" >> /etc/package.mask
emerge -uD1 media-libs/libpng |

| Sorry, I dunno then - I think it's very related to some font lib or something similar. |

Okay, this is also discussed at http://www.quakelive.com/forum/showthread.php?t=43859
Temporary solution until the QL build is fixed:
Install >=media-libs/libpng-1.2 (it's getting slotted iirc)
and use
| Code: |
LD_PRELOAD="/usr/lib/libpng12.so.0" firefox
|
to start firefox using libpng12, which is working.

On my machine there is /usr/lib/libpng12.so.0, note the '0'.
Just check whether you have that file.
And when runnnig Fx make sure all instances are closed in order to load a new instance of firefox. |

Quake Live is now out of beta!
@kemchua: The 'closed beta' group still exists but I think no more linux testers are needed since the client works quite well and all issues which are left are known ones. |
