install and emerge xfree everything ok (with nvdriver).......no problems starting x...........after emerge -e gnome get the following error starting x

can somebody please explain why it worked before gnome and not after, and tell me what to do to fix it......Thanks

Hmm, try re-emerging nvidia-glx.

i tried re-emerging nvidia-glx, but still getting same msg.......i'm using startx to invoke x..........also tried making new XF86Config........everything worked........re-emerged nvidia and now have same prob again...........is possible it's a nvidia problem............i installed once before and had no problems............has something been changed in the past 2 wks that i'm not aware of??

This is really strange. I use nvidia as well and have no libri.a on my system.

Maybe try setting the opengl implementation to nvidia's one. Try (as root):
