Catalan and Spanish forums inside International Gentoo Users

I can speak Spanish, and a lot of people can (it's the third most talked language in the world) so it will be nice to add a Spanish forum into "International Gentoo Users" section.

My main language is Català (Catalan), a language spoken in Catalunya (Catalonia), in part of France, in Valencia, in Illes Balears, in part of other spanish comunnities and in l'Alguer. I know a lot of catalan speaking Gentoo users, so it will be not bad to have a Catalan forum too.

Specialy with the request of a catalonian forum. I still cant use the oppenoffice in catalonian in my gentoo.

Catalan is a language. Doesn't have anything to do with Spanish.

Of course we do have enough users!
After all, Catalan does have ~8 million speakers in the world, and we've got a strong free software userbase.

I use Gentoo and speak catalan, so I believe a catalan forum would be helpful.

it's a nice idea, but in reality if we make a catalan forum, we also have to make an euskadi forum to satisfy all ethnic groups in spain

i have a lot of family in catalunya and lot of the population there think that catalunya should be a seperate country.

if we make a catalan board, we just support that seperatism inside spain.. not a good idea..

btw, spanish is the _second_ most spoken language! (including all derivates). 1st is mandarin (chinese)..

Uhms... people forgot that catalan is the official language of Andorra and it's officially recognised on the ONU organisation.

Should andorran people have a forum in catalan??

Ahh politics. The stuff that creates flamefests like there was no tomorrow. I hope this thread will stay clean. I don't think the actions of the Gentoo forums administrators will have any effect on the geopolitical situation in Spain and wherever you can find speakers of Catalan, so it's unlikely that politics actually needs to be discussed at all here.

... and now, to the One Relevant Question: Is the forum needed? Well, rvalles told has told that there's a strong Catalanian free software userbase. If he can demonstrate that there's enough Gentoo users in that userbase who find it easier to communicate in Catalan than English to warrant creating a new forum... why not? It would make at least me a supporter of the idea...
