Hi,
I've been having a weird problem for a while. Displays are changed either when pressing Alt+ some F key - Gentoo behaves as if Ctrl+Alt was pressed. Additionally I can iterate through all of the displays using Meta (Windows key). Or I can switch to the display I was previously on using the menu key. This has nothing to do with X as it's also the case when not using X. Unfortunately, I have no clue about the source of this problem. I am using almost the same configuration on my Desktop (with USE="-laptop -bluetooth" and a some more packages) and I can't remember editing any configuration files that might have something to do with it. So please, tell me about any information you need. _________________ Men never do evil so completely and cheerfully as when they do it from religious conviction. |

Hi MalleRIM,
Here's my | Code: |
/etc/conf.d/keymaps
# Use KEYMAP to specify the default console keymap. There is a complete tree
# of keymaps in /usr/share/keymaps to choose from.
keymap="windowkeys"
# Should we first load the 'windowkeys' console keymap? Most x86 users will
# say "yes" here. Note that non-x86 users should leave it as "no".
windowkeys="YES"
# The maps to load for extended keyboards. Most users will leave this as is.
extended_keymaps=""
#extended_keymaps="backspace keypad euro2"
# Tell dumpkeys(1) to interpret character action codes to be
# from the specified character set.
# This only matters if you set unicode="yes" in /etc/rc.conf.
# For a list of valid sets, run `dumpkeys --help`
dumpkeys_charset=""
# Some fonts map AltGr-E to the currency symbol ¤ instead of the Euro â¬
# To fix this, set to "yes"
fix_euro="NO" |
Note:In Holland US type keyboards are standard.
In /etc/hal/fdi/policy I have a file to make my kb us-intl. so I can type accents.
I have no idea how this would be done for French keyboards.
The windowskey thingy makes it possible to switch displays.
This doesn't work when I'm in KDE.
Then I have to use ctrl-alt-Fx to switch to a terminal.
Alt is used by KDE.
Gerard.
Edit:Sorry for my confusing you with someone else from France. _________________ To install Gentoo I use sysrescuecd.Based on Gentoo,has Firefox to browse Gentoo docs and mc to browse (and edit) files.

Hi, thanks for your answer!
Except for the layout (I have a german one, de-latin1), my /etc/conf.d/keymaps looks exactly the same. It also looks alike on my desktop computer which does not have this problem. So the keymaps seem to be alright.
Edit: I just noticed, this does have something to do with X, but not what I thought. On my desktop, display switching works the same when X is not running on the active display. Plus, when I restart X once on my Laptop, the problem is gone until I reboot. Furthermore, I am using an xorg.config on my desktop but not on my laptop _________________ Men never do evil so completely and cheerfully as when they do it from religious conviction. |
