just wanted to say thanks for helping me with my install and raid issues.
You helped me learn a lot more about gentoo, linux, and raids.
my issue was one of my ram sticks was bad. so now i'm running just one, and everything went perfectly, very easy actually.
thanks again! _________________ help the needy |

Moved from Installing Gentoo to Gentoo Chat.
I'm here for the fun - fixing problems is fun to me. If I fix other peoples problems, it saves me creating my own.
I hope to be around for many years yet. _________________ Regards,

I prefer the spelling, "faerie". It's more attuned to my Celtic roots.
Cheers,

I would like to thank Neddy as well. He helped me lots of times with some pretty difficult problems (e.g. b0rked hard drive), I've learned a lot with his help. So, thanks Ned! _________________ Please add [solved] to the initial post's subject line if you feel your problem is resolved. Help answer the unanswered |

as much the helping as it is the teaching. when he tells you what's broken, and how to fix, it's most commonly accompanied by "and here's why..."
This is especially nice, because when I turn around and help someone else, I'm not a bumbling idiot regurgitating things - I actually understand the reasoning behind a fix, because well, someone like NeddySeagoon has explained it before.
between him and a chunk of others on the boards, my learning just the past 2 years of my ~6 years gentooing has absolutely skyrocketed. Not just about gentoo, but Linux underpinnings in general. Much appreciated, and helpful not just for my tinkering, but for my work as well - what I've learned on these boards has made me able to do my job, and well, I like paychecks. _________________ Lost configuring your system?
