|
|
| In the past days I always used parcellite as a gnome clipboard manager so that even I closed the program I could still paste the contents out. However today I found suddenly it is not working anymore---after I closed the applications I cannot paste anymore. I tried to run parcellite in tray and realize that actually the contents are still in parcellite---I can find them by single-click the parcellite icon in tray, but I just couldn't paste them out ;( Anybody met this problem? Thanks. |

<rant>Yesss... this is definitely one of the more annoying and retarded aspects of Linux which can't be fixed (like case-sensitive filenames! Gah!)... </rant>
How are you copying stuff?
If you use the selection/highlight method, I've had success with running autocutsel in the background; This helps sync the selection and copy buffers so things work more intuitively. It's not perfect as it doesn't always work, e.g. if it can't take control of a selection-copy from the original application.
If you're using the right-click-copy/ctrl+c style of things then I don't know... that should go into your clipboard manager with no problems :S |

I just did several tesets using program "xclip -o" now problem seems to be quite creepy. I use vim as a test:
vim "+p====>A: If keeping vim open, I can right-click and paste B: If close vim, I cannot right-click to paste anymore
However, under both circumstance, xclip-o indicates that the contents are still in the xclipboard, because I keep parcellite running.
If I turn off parcellite, then after close vim xclip -o indicates the content is actually lost.

I forgot to mention the funniest part: In circumstance B, if I close vim I cannot right-click to paste anymore----but if I open vim again then I can use "+p to paste it. Only works in vim! |

| looks like parcellite's problem. I tested 0.9.1 version and this one works pretty well. The newly updated 0.9.2 might be broken. I filed a report to the author, wish he could see it as soon as possible. |
