I'm increasingly finding my bored by all the things I used to do/play. I am no longer addicted to football manager (My team now consists of Akinfeev, Ferdinand, Vidic, Evra, Srna, Ronaldo, Riquelme, Anderson, Messi, Rooney, Bojan and Aguero). Actually I might have another play after this post...
What is interesting/new to do online now? |

World of Warcraft, and Runescape for when the servers are down.
Or just teach yourself how to code/a new coding language, that's what I'm doing at the moment. |

I'm finding that less and less does, and that I'm increasingly finding non-computer / non-internet activities more interesting.
I have NEVER had an interest in poker. For the hell of it, I stopped on a poker championship the other day (nothing else was interesting), and now I'm interested in learning poker. Probably won't though as I'm unlikely to maintain enough interest to quit my day job. _________________ lolgov. 'cause where we're going, you don't have civil liberties.

I'll get laughed at for this...
wiki
Yes, I'm aware the level of substantiation in wiki articles isn't always up to snuff. I have the good sense not to pretend to be an expert on things I've only read on wiki, and typically go and do the legwork to verify what I've read after, often reading through both confirmations and rebuttals, forming my own opinion.
But I will find myself hearing about something - maybe some obscure culture, or a new technology, basically just an area that is completely foreign to me.
I read through one article, see something else foreign to me in the article, open in a new tab, and soon as I'm done with the one article I go to my new tab.
I've found myself wasting hours doing that.
I also read the paper online. I am aware of the apparent contradiction here - I read the same UK paper I read when I lived over there; the good folks at Metro have been kind enough to put up metro.co.uk/e-metro which is the *exact* same printed copy you'd find at the train station, same format, same page ordering, same ads, etc. Used to read the paper version every day on the train to work, now I catch it maybe 3 or 4 times a week online. |

He tried that, but he couldn't handle it. Too much work.

Maybe it is just me, or I haven't browsed enough, but it seems like some of the courses should have pre-requisites.
Like, maybe it would help to have some kind of art class first?

Homework #1
1) WRITE a letter to me introducing yourself to me as a writer: What’s your relationship to writing? [...]
2) READ Didion’s “Why I Write,” Updike’s “Why Write?”, and Louis Menand’s “Bad Comma.” [...]
Select a brief passage—a sentence or two—from one of these three pieces and respond to it. |

Nothing sadder than people who can't entertain themselves, though.

How about this? You can learn python by doing it. You'd still need to know python basics however. |

It's an introduction. Change the 0 in the link to the solution of 2^38. No you don't need python to do basic math, but you do need python for (most of the?) other ones. |

| isilia wrote: | | It's an introduction. | I'd have to disagree with that. IMO, it assumes you already know the language quite well.
| isilia wrote: | | Change the 0 in the link to the solution of 2^38. | That's what I'd indicated. I don't like the "guess the URL" part of the "challenge." Being that this is most certainly NOT an introduction to the language, it'd be nice to see what they expect to be used for the challenge, then go back and implement it.
Seriously... what person trying to learn the language is going to know about string.translate for the second task. I don't think it is worth the headache for task 3. _________________ lolgov. 'cause where we're going, you don't have civil liberties.

It works fine if you take the comma out of the URL. |
