|

I have an old notebook (Toshiba Satellite 2450-401) with a geforce 420go graphics card. When i issue the startx command, the driver uses the VGA-out, so notebook screen remains black. I fixed this by adding the line
Code: | Option "UseDisplayDevice" "DFP-0" |
If the system goes on powersaving mode and turns video off, the screen doesn't work, and i have to reboot to make it work again. Also, with the usedisplaydevice activated in xorg.conf, if i want to plug the notebook to a monitor/TV, i have to kill X, edit xorg.conf, and restart it. Is there a way to use HAL to auto-detect if an external monitor is plugged? |

On my intel, I have been using xrandr --output VGA --auto (or --output LVDS, or --output DVI) depending on what you want... |
