Hello,
I have a problem after updating my system, emerge -uD system, my X began to hang when the xdm starts. And in the dmesg there is 1000 messages every seconds:

[ 2743.767729] X:17245 map pfn expected mapping type write-combining for c8000-cc000, got write-back

[ 2743.767802] X:17245 map pfn expected mapping type write-combining for c8000-cc000, got write-back

My X is 1.6.3, I tried 1.6.2.9xx it is the same, I tried with 1.5.X the same hangs, I think there is something in dbus or hal, but I cannot figure out, what is it?!? I have two systems atom 330 (i686 compile) and a laptop (amd64 compile) the problem is the same.

Your X does not hang. If you are very patient, you will see a movement every 3 mins or so. It's your driver problem. Try using vesa and let us know if you have the same problem. What Graphic Card do you have? What driver? What version if it? Paste your xorg.conf too.

What video driver are you using?
I have the same Motherboard with Atom 330, but can not find any specific information as to what diver to enable in kernel.

I have exactly the same problem. My X hangs after 30 minutes, the mouse can move but the system has not responding, the clock stops.

My vedio is 'intel', if I change the driver to 'vesa' then a 'no screens found' error will happen and I could not enter X.

this is my lspci:

the 'nopat' in kernel boot option does not help in my case. The X hangs in 30 minuts. The mouse can move but the system dead (clock stopped).
