They were just asking for closed beta testers for Linux a couple of weeks ago. Fast beta test apparently; however, the test had been going on for a while they were just asking for more people.

Looking forward to it though.

It's probably tripping up on your browser being identified as Shiretoko rather than Firefox. You might have to go change the User Agent string (about:config -> add "general.useragent.override" (putting in your existing user agent as the value) and change Shiretoko to Firefox.

It never gets past this stage, however many times I install it.
Quote:
"Plugin Installation
Your download will begin in a few moments. If it doesn't, click here to try again. "
Are you guys facing similar problem? Using firefox-3.5.2 on amd64. I have tried it with a clean profile too.

EDIT: Got it fixed. emerged libXxf86dga. This was one of the errors. There was some other error about wrong ELF (needing 32bit libraries) which had me confused.

x86 and x86_64 (aka x64) plugins are installed, you may want to remove the not needed one from ~/.mozilla/firefox/PROFILE/extensions/quakeliveplugin@idsoftware.com/plugins/.

also with the cvar in_dgamouse set to 0 you can make it work w/o libXxf86dga

The cvar comes later ;) The first thing is to actually get the plugin to be detected and the game pk3 to be downloaded. And for that you do need that dga library.

I have been playing it in OS X and it is working great. As soon as my PSU comes back from RMA I will be able to try this on Gentoo but I am sure it will play just as well. Anyone who hasn't tried Quake Live yet is really missing out on something fantastic.

Hi,

I can't connect to servers. In quakelive console, it says : Net_SendPacket Error : Operation not permitted to IP:Port (quakelive server).

My firewall is blocking some packets... so if someone knows what are the rules i need.

I'm using a stateful firewall ...

Created an ebuild:

http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=282134

Seems to work fine here. Deals with libXxf86dga dependency. Requires modified mozextension eclass (referred to in the bug report)

It is stupid to do that, see the bugreport for details. An ebuild is just making it more complicated (and won't work well).

I am impressed of the whole Quake Live thing!
I have been playing Q3 from 1999 on and I always loved it...
Now the servers are full again, I didn't have that much fun in an online game for months... 8)

Thanks id Software for this piece of software!

@Naib: I've added you...

If anyone has cracking sound in quakelive, this topic on quake live forum can help (it does helped on my system). Quick solution is to issue "s_mixahead 0.3 " in console (for a permanent change, autoexe.cfg is just fine).

(btw, my nick on QuakeLive is ZetaGentoo ; yeah, I did not had much imagination when I first tried it).[/url]

Wow chears!!!! I tended to get 1/2 second audio jitter that was very annoying (thus I tended to mute QL), now it is playable with sound

Quakelive running well here; and thats with pulseaudio. I did require the s_mixahead 0.3 but those settings stored; no autoexe.cfg required in my case. Even more intesting is that none of my other quake engine games work with alsa and PA, I had to switch to OSS for them to work
