Im hopeing that the lack of responses from my post is due to lack of information on my part. Therefore Im now posting the entire readout from the console:

I'm not sure what's going on there, but I wasn't aware the demo version had 7 .pak files. Maybe remove it and install the demo with the loki linux installer. While I havn't messed with quake3 in a while, it looks like you are running a mix of the full version and the demo version (notice the running in restricted demo mode) but then I see baseq3, I thought the demo was demoq3.
I might be off, but I don't think your problem has anything to do with linux, looks like a messed up q3 install. Try it again, without emerge.
*EDIT* Here is a link - http://www.quake3arena.com/games/quake/quake3-arena/ select demo from there and grab the linux demo if that's what you want. If you are trying to up your full version to the latest linux point release, then I THINK the best way is to use the linux 1.31 loki installer and then copy your pak files over. I havn't done this yet, but I plan to as soon as I figure out my low opengl performance problem in RTCW. There are plenty of sites that cover how to do this though. |

Did you copy the pak0.pk3 file from your quake3 cd to /opt/quake3/baseq3 and then verify the permissions match the remaining .pk3 files? Looking at the startup sequence, it doesn't show pak0.pk3 so that could be the problem. |

try this on. I have yet to be able to emerge quake 3. What gives? If I used OSP or CPMA, would that work just as the straight "quake3" option?
thanks |
