|
|
Hi all. I hate to start a new topic, but I've tried everything I can find and nothing works.
I'm running KDE4.2.1 and the sound works great in everything BUT Firefox. I know this is an ongoing problem with Adobe Flash, but this includes MPlayerPlug-in and VLC; both players work when run independently and both produce video as plug-ins. Does Firefox or XULrunner use an env variable I don't know about? How do I get it to talk to ALSA, OSS, Phonon or anything else interfaced with my speakers?

Have had a similar problem some month ago. That helped:
emerge -av esound
/etc/init.d/esound start
rc-update add esound default |

| That brings up a new problem-- I can't get esd to start. Tried pulse. That didn't work, either... I'll have to look into my system a little more. |

The problem was in the kernel. I modularized everything OSS and stripped out support for the old ALSA API and now everything works fine.\

Cool, it solved the flash problem here too!
Regards. |
