Hmmm, I have no audio problems with any user account, unless I'm su-ing to another user account.
Example, when I login to any Window Manager as lee, this is the ouput of `ls -l /dev/sound/`
Code: |
total 0
crw------- 1 lee audio 14, 4 1970-01-01 audio
crw------- 1 lee audio 14, 3 1970-01-01 dsp
crw------- 1 lee audio 14, 19 1970-01-01 dsp1
crw------- 1 lee audio 14, 5 1970-01-01 dspW
crw------- 1 lee audio 14, 2 1970-01-01 midi
crw------- 1 lee audio 14, 18 1970-01-01 midi1
crw------- 1 lee audio 14, 0 1970-01-01 mixer
crw------- 1 lee audio 14, 1 1970-01-01 sequencer
crw------- 1 lee audio 14, 8 1970-01-01 sequencer2

If I login to a Window Manager as mac, the user:group for all of those devices becomes mac:audio. However, if I login as lee, and do a su - mac, the audio user:group remains lee:audio. My mac account was created to isolate BasiliskII from my main account, and the problem is, I can't use ESD if I `su - mac` because the audio user is lee. Both mac and lee are members of the audio group btw.
Anybody know a way around this? |

does 'su user' do anything different? Notice the missing - _________________ Quis separabit? Quo animo? |

No. It just makes the su more inconvenient (wrong userspace, non-default paths, etc.). |
