Ok, here is the error I get when I try and emerge a variety of packages, notably XMMS.

Code:

localhost root # emerge xmms
Calculating dependencies ...done!
>>> emerge dev-libs/libxml-1.8.17-r2 to /
>>> md5 ;-) libxml-1.8.17.tar.gz
>>> Unpacking source...
>>> Unpacking libxml-1.8.17.tar.gz
>>> Source unpacked.
/usr/sbin/ebuild.sh: configure: command not found

!!! ERROR: The ebuild did not complete successfully.
!!! Function src_compile, Line 6, Exitcode 127
!!! (no error message)

!!! emerge aborting on  /usr/portage/dev-libs/libxml/libxml-1.8.17-r2.ebuild .
localhost root #

Any ideas? I performed an emerge --update world --emptytree. Nine hours later, the emerge failed when trying the ebuild for Chromium. I assume my problem is the libxml-1.8.17-r2.ebuild. How can I solve this?

Appreciate any assistance.

BTW... I just noticed I get the same error when I try and emerge Ximian Evolution.
