root@localhost foo # emerge mozilla
Calculating dependencies |
!!! Error: couldn't find match for : in net-www/mozilla-1.0-r3

haven't had problems emerging anything else, and I just set this system up as of yesterday.

Running great otherwise though, I'd just far prefer mozilla over konqueror, and I'd rather use the ebuilds than do it from mozilla's source. might as well keep the packages happy, I guess.

Any insight as to why it's doing that?

ok, I was able to emerge rsync, but I'm still getting the same error:

root@localhost foo # emerge mozilla
Calculating dependencies \
!!! Error: couldn't find match for : in net-www/mozilla-1.0-r3

root@localhost mozilla # ls
ChangeLog mozilla-0.9.9-r2.ebuild mozilla-1.0_rc1-r1.ebuild
files mozilla-1.0-r2.ebuild mozilla-1.0_rc1.ebuild
mozilla-0.9.7-r2.ebuild mozilla-1.0-r3.ebuild mozilla-1.1_beta.ebuild
mozilla-0.9.8-r3.ebuild mozilla-1.0-r4.ebuild
root@localhost mozilla # emerge net-www/mozilla/mozilla-1.1_beta.ebuild

I had the same problem (https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic.php?t=7389&highlight=), you need to update your portage.
Code:

# emerge portage

That should do it... 8)

update portage then unmask mozilla 1.1b in usr/portage/profiles/package.mask by commenting it out...then run emerge mozilla....1.1b has been completely stable and seems much faster then 1.0-r3

BTW, u can just do ebuild mozilla-1.1_beta.ebuild merge, and u wouldnt need to unmask it.
