Ok, installing Gentoo for first time, everything went ok by the book, i then lauched emerge system. Had coffee and smoke, came back and compiling had halted with error something about Perl* not found...
I typed "emerge system" again and it started again ok and this time it has been running ok Oh well, some weird thing, who knows...
I am just wondering, normally when emerging something, should it dowload every package first, and then compile, because i see "emerge system" is downloading something, then compiling, and again downloading, this way it could mess up, if some reason my ISP desides to do "maintanence" .... |

Normal behavior is for portage to download as it needs something. Not a bad idea to have as an option though. Perhaps worth mentioning in the Gentoo Suggestions forum.
