Ok. I'm a moron it's official. I accidentally unmerged grep. :( I was trying to umerge grip and accidentally typed grep out of habit. Anyway I immediatly tried to remerge grep and got the following error messages (I'm just pasting the stderr stream)

Code:

/usr/sbin/ebuild.sh: grep: command not found
/usr/sbin/ebuild.sh: grep: command not found
configure: WARNING: If you wanted to set the --build type, don't use --host.
If a cross compiler is detected then cross compile mode will be used.
./configure: grep: command not found
./configure: fgrep: command not found
./configure: egrep: command not found
(it goes on like that for a while)
configure: WARNING: Included lib/regex.c not used
./configure: grep: command not found
./configure: grep: command not found
./config.status: egrep: command not found
./config.status: grep: command not found
(again with the list of can't grep:command not found stuff)

error.c: In function `error_at_line':

error.h:54: prototype declaration
error.c:205: number of arguments doesn't match prototype
error.h:54: prototype declaration
error.c:112: conflicting types for `sys_errlist'
/usr/include/stdio.h:552: previous declaration of `sys_errlist'
make[3]: *** [error.o] Error 1
make[3]: *** Waiting for unfinished jobs....
make[2]: *** [all-recursive] Error 1
make[1]: *** [all-recursive] Error 1
make: *** [all] Error 2

!!! ERROR: The ebuild did not complete successfully.
!!! Function src_compile, Line 12, Exitcode 2
!!! (no error message)

Anything I can do to get grep back other than recompile my entire system (which just got finished like a day or two ago compiling) :|

What happens if you unmerge it first?

Hmm... I think your best bet is: compile grep manually (take a look at the ebuild and configure it the same way.)
