|
|
When someone creates files on a Chinese Windows XP machine and saves them to a USB drive for me, the Chinese characters appear as question marks (??). This happens both in Terminal and using the file manager in gnome. I have enabled the codepages in my kernel.
How can I determine what format the filenames are in, and how can I enable my system to display them correctly?
Code: | # ll /mnt/usb
total 634484
drwxrwxrwx 2 root root 4096 2008-04-19 10:30 ??

Never mind, sorry, I forgot the golden rule of searching before posting (not enough coffee).
The answer is to use these mount options: utf8,iocharset=utf8 |
