I find the user forums one of the best aspects of Gentoo. Another very important element of Gentoo is Bugzilla and they can use all the help they can get! Bug wranglers can help other users fix or verify bugs much in the same way you can help on these forums. How can you help?
1) Go to the Bug Wranglers rss feed
2) Check if the bugs have an emerge --info included, if not ask for one
3) Check if you can verify the bug
If we all do a few bugs a day the Gentoo user experience will be greatly enhanced!

That's a great link. It's unfortunate though that there apparently isn't an interest in bug wrangling. With only 1 active person doing regular bug wrangling the Gentoo project really suffers _________________ Please add [solved] to the initial post's subject line if you feel your problem is resolved. | Can anyone other than the bug wranglers do anything? I usually confirm when I am experiencing the same problem and post patches when I can figure things out, but beyond that what else can users do? |

Actually that is already more then enough! This will lessen the burden on the on the one only bug wrangler we have. Moreover I do think that it is very important thatat bug reporters get an initial response in a timely matter. And this is exactly the kind of thing we can provide

If there is only one bug-wrangler, should not the project post an opening on Staffing Needs? Maybe another project, like PR/userrel or the recruiters can do this for the bug-wrangler, since he is only one person?
Anyway, IMHO, it would be nice if users could change the KEYWORD field in bugs they did not create. Yes, we can ask, and the owner or a developer can do it, but I would prefer the convenience. This may have been abused in the past and that is why it is disabled. Can users be given additional privileges in Bugzilla alone, without having to become a developer? Maybe there is a process I am not aware of. |
