why is it that everyone in this forum seems to be quoting everything the earlier poster had posted when replying - are we all just too young or what? it irks me and i'm not sure why - it just does!
i've seen several where a poster has asked a simple question requiring a yes/no answer and the reponse has included the entire previous post as a quote with the single no/yes answer - what a waste of bandwidth and storage space!
if i'm a moderator, i'd just shoot the bugers that do this - really! don't ever make me a moderator - many, many people may end up dead! |

Actually I can see a purpose to doing it since you can search the forums and have it return single posts instead of threads.
Either way I think you are a little too wound up about it. It's only the internet. Settle. |

Actually, there is rarely a reason to quote an entire post. However, 'quoting' can make it clear exactly what the person is responding to. _________________ lolgov. 'cause where we're going, you don't have civil liberties.

I wouldn't worry too much. threre are much longer quotes with less new information below in some threads. but every avatar displayed takes the same amount of bandwith/memory as the largest quotes. then there are emoticons: absolutly useless concerning bandwidth. It's true, some people quote far too much, but it's not worth your nerves being wasted on this.

| thekillerbean wrote: | | why quote if he is responding to a statement just above his post??? | I have replied to posts that had no replies. After my post has appeared, someone elses post was 'ahead' of mine. Sure, in many cases it isn't necessary, but sometimes it is. *shrug* Have a beer or something _________________ lolgov.
