|
|
Hi to ya all!
I've KDE3.0.2 with QT3.0.5 installed and thought I would install Quanta do some web editing. When I run: emerge -p quanta it got no deps. what so ever. Just the application. So I tried to install but the installation breaks and says I need >= QT 2.2.2. Hmm ... ok, I checked emerge -p qt-2.3.2-r1 and then I see that it whats to uppgrade? Upgrade what? QT 3.0.5? Is it safe to emerge QT 2.3.2 or will it break KDE3 with QT 3.0.5?

I have run into this problem but it's usually with apps that I have downloaded and compile myself. I don't know what the workaround for emerge is, but I have to:
make --with-qt-dir=/usr/qt/3/
(or make install, whichever says it needs qt)
I don't know what you would need to do with emerge, though. Hope this is helpful in some way... |

That means I would have to go around the portage system. I dont even know if Quanta build with qt3 even if I use the sourcepackage standalone. Anyone? _________________ ~'¨'~'¨'~'¨'~'¨'~'¨'~'¨'~'¨'~'¨'~'¨'~'¨'~'¨'~'¨'~

Maybe try adding the line
QTDIR=/usr/qt/3
to the /etc/make.globals file? Just a shot in the dark. Let me know if it works...
Also, try searching the forums for "QTDIR" -- there are a few threads that may give you some clues |

I have both qt3 and qt2 installed. Ideally, portage won't install old older versions over newer versions. qt2 is installed in /usr/qt/2 and likewise qt3 is installed in /usr/qt/3. Similarly with kde2 and kde3. Not so however with gnome1.4 and gnome2... hmmm |
