What packages and/or compile flags do I need to get xine to play
quicktime files? I have all of the currently quicktime ebuilds that I
can find, and I tried a few different USE flags, none of which work... |

Quicktime is only a packaging format. There are several different codecs used for Quicktime videos. I think that Sorenson is the one that is used a lot. There isn't a Sorenson codec for Linux.
Codeweavers have put out a non-free plugin for Mozilla/Netscape that can handle Quicktime with Sorenson. _________________ And what rough beast, its hour come round at last

Very recently limited Sorenson support was added to Xine, and the mplayer guys grabbed the Xine support and added it to mplayer. I'm not sure if it's in the current ebuild or only cvs.
If you look here:
http://xine.sourceforge.net/xine_frame.php?page=features.html
It lists Sorenson support but says "Sorenson SV3 unsupported (used in newer Quicktime5 trailers)"
So I guess some will play and others won't. |
