A little problem here getting my install to work. Originally my gentoo install was on hdb with the bios loading that drive as default, ie hdb is where grub was installed. Everything worked. Then I decided to move that install to hda(its faster) by using Drive Image5. I then booted with the Gentoo1.2 cd, mounted /, setup grub for the new location, and altered menu.lst and fstab to reflect the new environment. Reboot, grub works fine and the kernel starts to load, it appears everything is cool.
Then shit hits the fan: devfs fails with:
mount-devfs(): unable to mount devfs, err: -2
Warning: unable to open an initial console
Kernel panic: No init found. Try passing init= option to kernel
Thats it, everything locks. I've double and triple checked fstab, it appears to be fine. I'm at a loss for ideas and would hate to have to reinstall. Anybody else with a suggestion? |

A forum search for 'Warning: unable to open an initial console' turned up this thread. _________________ Quis separabit? Quo animo? |

Oddest thing. Seems just a simple kernel recompile, even though I didn't change anything, was all it took. Very weird. |
