Since around September 22 I can no longer emerge anything on MIPS
when /etc/make.profile is set. Observe:

Code:

db1200 ~ # ln -s /usr/portage/profiles/default-linux/mips /etc/make.profile
db1200 ~ # emerge portage
Calculating dependencies... done!

>>> Verifying ebuild manifests

>>> Emerging (1 of 1) sys-apps/portage-2.2_rc9
 * portage-2.2_rc1.tar.bz2 RMD160 SHA1 SHA256 size ;-) ...                                                                           [ ok ]
 * portage-2.2_rc9.patch.bz2 RMD160 SHA1 SHA256 size ;-) ...                                                                         [ ok ]
 * checking ebuild checksums ;-) ...                                                                                                 [ ok ]
 * checking auxfile checksums ;-) ...                                                                                                [ ok ]
 * checking miscfile checksums ;-) ...                                                                                               [ ok ]
 * ARCH is not set... Are you missing the '/etc/make.profile' symlink? Is
 * the symlink correct? Is your portage tree complete?
...

ARCH is set in make.conf. Removing the /etc/make.profile symlink makes it work again.

So far I only see this on MIPS; no problems on arm, sh or x86.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

No thats not it. All the necessary files in /usr/portage/profiles/default-linux/mips are there.
As far as I can tell they didn't change.

The profiles have moved now. We're still in the process of sorting it all out, but other commitments have meant things are still a mess.

/usr/portage/profiles/default/linux/mips/2008.0/ is the base big-endian profile for all SGI systems. At the moment, there aren't any special profiles for IP30 and IP28, so one must set the ip28 or ip30 USE-flags in their make.conf for everything to work.

We hope to address the issue eventually, but time has been tight.

^^^^^^^^ path change ;-)

Thanks, it works now. I created my own profile for 32bit softfloat little-endian, btw.
KDE-3.5.9 already runs ;-)
