I have a Debian package for OpenOffice that I would like to install (instead of going through the trouble of downloading the source and compiling it). Is there any way to do this under Gentoo? And if there is a method, is there also a method for doing this with .rpms? Thanks for your time...

If you don't want to spend time compiling Open Office, just emerge 'openoffice-bin'. It's one of Gentoo's only pre-compiled packages available in Portage. This will download the binary and install it for you, using Gentoo's native package management.

The problem with installing using openoffice-bin is that I need to have bidi support. After aliening the .deb package (which comes with bidi-support), I get the following errors. I'm pretty sure that some of these are already installed and even found them. Where does the rpm look for these files? And what's the quickest way to find out what packages I need to get OpenOffice up and running? Thanks again for your time...
