|
|
Hello Sparc people,
I'm interested in buying a secondhand Sun Fire V100 server. However, there is no "normal" graphics output, only two serial RS-232 (RJ45) outputs.
How does that work?
- Do I have to buy a RJ45 to serial console cable (like this)?
- Or can I put the RJ45 in my network card with a normal cat5 utp cable?
thanks, Wim

Exactly, the most common name for these type of cables is "cisco console cable", just plug it in and use something like minicom to send commands to the v100.
More information are available at the FAQ: How do I install/use my SPARC over a serial console?

Thanks blu3bird,
I guess this cable will do. It has a null modem function because it's crosslinked. |
