I'm trying to get netjuke (http://netjuke.sourceforge.net) working and running into problems with permissions for the "apache" user.

I'm supposed to "chown apache" .../netjuke/var/data and .../netjuke/var/inc-prefs.php, which I've done. But I still get permission errors when I try to import muisic.

I've even gone so far as to chmod -R 777 netjuke, but still get errors.

But when I change to "user scott" in /etc/apache/conf/commonapache.conf everything works wonderfully.

So for some reason even though the dirs/files are owned by apache and/or world-writeable, apache can't modify them.

How come?

moving to networking forum.

It will help greatly if you can also tell us what user apache starts under.

Apache is uer: apache and group: apache.

I've added user "apache" to the "dsk" group and things seem to be working now. I'm still getting the hang of all this -- is it okay to have user apache in the dsk group?

hi
my apache runs as user apache and i am having the same problems you were having with netjuke. however, i cannot fix it by adding apache to group 'dsk' as i don't have that group on my comuter. how do you create it so it will work (aside from groupadd dsk). any help would be appreciated.

thank you
