|
|
I am using Thunderbird n Gentoo stable.
Problem is that in the compose/editor windows, when writing emails for example, in multiline messages, when cursor is in the middle of a line, and I press up or down arrow to change line, cursor changes line, but always comes back at the first position of it. This is unusual and really boring.
Does not happen in any other software.
This seems Gentoo specific, since, using the same /home user profiles, bug does not occurs in Debian.
Using a blank/new/fresh user profile does not help (either system user, of Mozilla profile for my actual user).
Any one get ideas ? _________________ DEMAINE Benoît-Pierre (aka DoubleHP ) http://www.demaine.info/

Which thunderbird ebuild do you have installed? Built from source or binary? x86 or amd64?
I'm using thunderbird-bin on x86 and it doesn't do that to me. |

[ebuild R ] mail-client/mozilla-thunderbird-2.0.0.14 USE="crypt ipv6 mozdom xinerama -bindist -debug -gnome -ldap -moznopango -replytolist -xprint" LINGUAS="[we dont mind]" 0 kB
source, stable, x86. https://bugs.gentoo.org/attachment.cgi?id=143964
It used to happen on unstable, but bug persists after re-installation. I have a few other bugs, that I always had on Gentoo, only on Gentoo, and that also persits after switch to stable.
It's the kind of bug I dont notice at once, and take a few weeks or month to see after install. I use gentoo since march 2005, and reinstalled stable 3 month ago. Even now, this editor bug does not happen under Debian (I have several OS on the same disk). I can deal with other bugs, but this one is really boring on daily basis. And, since it's distro specific to me, I dont want to bother official Moz supports. _________________ DEMAINE Benoît-Pierre (aka DoubleHP ) http://www.demaine.info/

Try the binary version and see if it still happens.
If not, then it is a bug in something Gentoo has done.
If it does still persist, then it is probably an issue with a Gentoo version of an external library and not specifically thunderbird. Have you run revdep-rebuild (from gentoolkit) to verify your library integrity? |

-bin behaves as I want. But in editor, -bin does not show the same font/size ... _________________ DEMAINE Benoît-Pierre (aka DoubleHP ) http://www.demaine.info/
