Hi,
I have a new hdd and moved my gentoo installation to it via this howto. The new hdd is ide like the old. It works fine except the first boot always fails. Reset doesnt help, I need to turn off my pc, then turn on. After this, no problems.
It usually crash when I try to log in. I enter my username and it asks for the username again. I can not login.
Any idea?

Yep.
I can log in on the console, but after the first command it freezes. But some time I can log in with gdm also, and some time it freezes before I can type my username.

sometimes means it is random, right?
so i would guess that is some kind of hardware problem.
have you already checked your memory for errors?

It is rare for a brand new hard disk to be broken, but it happens. I had a brand new Seagate that was wonky from the start and after about 2-3 weeks it was dead. It happens.

how did you move your installation? post the "cp" parameters or those of whatever tool you used. maybe you have a permissions problem, but i think that's unlikely.

Code:
cp -ax /olddisk/* /newdisk/

I checked my memory, no errors. Also checked the disk with e2fsck, no errors.
Today I turned on my pc, I boot a livecd to check disk and memory, and after that I logged in successfully firstly to gentoo.
