this is my fifth Gentoo install. I've been fairly happy
Until now!
On my first login I logged in as root, put in my password, and did "emerge superadduser"
I ran superadduser to set up one user
It seemed to corrupt my password file wherever it is because after I rebooted I couldn't log in as either root or the new user!
This suX0rs! |

You could try bootin up with the Gentoo cd and then mount your Gentoo filesystem as described in the install documentation, then chroot into your mounted filesystem and run passwd or if the /etc/passwd file is corrupt you could try getting the simple one of the Gentoo CD.
I hope this helps.

Thanks for your reply
I booted to the Gentoo CD
mounted my file systems
Code: | # chroot /mnt/gentoo /bin/bash
# env-update
Regenerating /etc/ld.so.cache...
# source /etc/profile |
and I get this:
I have no name!@(none) / # _
any suggestions what I should do from here?
runn passwd?
Where on the CD can I get the /etc/passwd file?
Thanks again |
