There's been a bit of fun this morning getting my Thinkpad R50 up to date with gentoo-sources-2.6.24-r3. To the zero order, after building the new kernel and booting it, module-rebuild was all over the floor. I needed tp_smapi, madwifi-ng, and openafs-kernel, and they were listed in that order. Eventually I found that openafs-kernel would build, but the other 2 both failed.
For both packages, the simple fix is in ~x86. Simply use madwifi-ng-0.9.4 and tp_smapi-0.33 and you're good to go. If your running a T6x Thinkpad, go to tp_smapi-0.36 instead.
Neither problem was terribly well documented on bugzilla, but putting that together with hints out of the Debian bugtracking system produced the fixes. _________________ .sigs waste space and bandwidth |

Sorry for off topic question: did you get hdaps to work with 2.6.24? The only patch available online seems to be for 2.6.24-rc2. _________________ emerge --quiet redefined | E17 vids: I, II | Now using kde5 | e is unstable :-/ |

Never tried. I should, some time. I've also toyed with trying to get the TPM working, as long as *I* control it. _________________ .sigs waste space and bandwidth |

Incidentally, for those of us who have been using the "force HPET" patch, as of 2.6.24 it's no longer necessary. However you need to add "hpet=force" to the kernel command line parameters. Now powertop is happy, again. _________________ .sigs waste space and bandwidth |
