|
|
When I rebooted after my install GRUB gives me error #17.
Error #17 corresponds to: "Cannot mount selected partition This error is returned if the partition requested exists, but the filesystem type cannot be recognized by GRUB."
/boot = /dev/hdb1 - ext3
/ = /dev/hdb3 - ext3
swap = /dev/hdb2
When I ran grub I entered:
>root (hd1,0)
>setup (hd1)
>quit
And, it worked fine - no errors.
My menu.lst file looks like this:
default 0
timeout 30
splashimage=(hd1,0)/boot/grub/splash.xpm.gz
title=Gentoo Linux 1.2
root (hd1,0)
kernel /boot/bzImage root=/dev/hdb3
#title=Windows XP
#root (hd0,0)
#chainloader +1
When I want to try and boot from grub I tell my bios to boot from hdd1 as opposed to hdd0, which is when I go into XP. I read somewhere that placing "ro" in the "root=/dev/hdb3" line, and starting that partition as read-only might help, but nothing changed. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank You. |
