I did an emerge -u portage on Thursday or Friday. After that I noticed that my /etc/make.conf was completely replaced with a new one that had all lines commented out and no USE flags in it anyway. Is this desired behavior? What happened to my original make.conf? |

I assume it went to the great cloud in the sky..
shouldn't be too hard to re-create it
ALWAYS make a backup of your important files.. like make.conf, rc.conf, XF86Config.. etc.. |

No it wasn't hard to recreate but what bothers me is that it did that in the first place. Perhaps it printed some notification on the screen that I missed, but I basically went two days doing some other emerges with this virtually void make.conf file. I only noticed when my tora dev ebuild stopped having oracle support (I threw in an oracle use flag). Oh well. |
