A while back I figured out how to serve a knoppix image from a normal HD based linux distro and posted it over in the Knoppix forums. I think the users here might find it interesting.

Since it is serving a cloop image (which is what the LiveCD uses as well) you could presumably modify the instructions to serve the 1.4 LiveCD to Etherboot / PXE clients.
The instructions were based off of using a Redhat 7.2 system, but I think you won't have any problems with Gentoo. (Some problems with Redhat were that the packages were too old and I had to build new daemons from source)
Enjoy! _________________ Inspiron 4100 & Sun UltraAXe
